Or do them yourself

Each of these characters can be typed on your keyboard using the ‘alt’ button (on the bottom left of your keyboard).

If you’re using a laptop make sure you press ‘Num Lock’ first! The ‘Num Lock’ button can be found in the top right of your keyboard.

Next, hold down ‘alt’ press the following:

They all work in status updates if you use Windows Vista and Firefox 3.0. I haven’t tested with other browsers or operating systems so I don’t know! Maybe other people have? Can you share your findings? Maybe share your OS and browser? :D

Hi Stephanie,
You might have to press two buttons at the same time to turn on your Num Lock. I’m guessing you have a laptop…so…
The first button you need to press is probably in the bottom left hand corner of the keyboard, and it should say ‘Fn’ on it. You need to hold down this button as well as…
Another button in the top right hand corner of your keyboard that should say something like ‘NumLk’ on it somewhere.
If you press these two at the same time then it should turn on NumLock, then you can use the numbers on the right hand side of your keyboard to do the emotes!

It locks the number keys…so then hold down the ‘ALT’ button on the left hand side of your keyboard and press the number button combos on the right! It should work fine!

Lauren, it depends which browser you’re using (Internet Explorer, Firefox etc)…if you copy/paste the characters then people will be able to see them (even if you can’t!). Trust me, they’re all there!

I have a older compaq laptop, with Windows XP and Firefox. After much trial and error, I found that I have a number pad hidden in my keyboard. The jkluio789m keys are 1234567890 respectively. When my num lock is turned on jkl aren’t jkl they are 123, so if I hold alt, with the num lock on, and use my hidden number pad ☺☻♥ yeah! ♪♫

Your number lock button is the (scroll key) push the (fn) key by the lower left and the (scroll) on the top right……OK, now the number lock is on, just do the oppisite to turn it off. Can’t get anything to work. Have a desk top, (Windows XP), and I’ve tried holding down the Alt button and then numbers, like 14 for the musical notes, or even 1 for the smiley face, but all I get is a ?. I also tried using the Num Lock first, but same result. Any hope??

My alt button does absolutely nothing when held down, I have tried using the number lock with alt plus numbers on top of laptop and with the numbers hidden into the letter keys (JKLUI)& nothing…. I know to make a heart not using the alt key, you make this symbol < and then a 3 without a space between, but other than that…I got nothing! <3

Hey if you have a laptop and you find its not working…..here’s what I tried, Next to the ALT there is a FN(function) key and it controls the other hiddin keypad on the letters m j k l u i o 7 8 9, so push and hold the fn key and the alt key then put the code numbers in and it should work!
